USWMA Member Agreement

美国武术家协会会员协议

This Member Agreement governs your relationship with the US Wushu Masters Association (USWMA). By submitting a membership application, you agree to the terms below.

1. Membership Categories · 会员类别

USWMA membership is open to three categories of applicants:

  • Member Schools — martial arts academies, kung fu centers, and training institutions operating in the United States
  • Masters & Instructors — individual lineage holders, sifu, and certified coaches
  • Community Organizations — nonprofit and cultural partner organizations

2. Code of Conduct · Wushu De (武德)

All members commit to upholding the principles of Wushu De — the moral foundation of Chinese martial arts:

  • Respect — for teachers, peers, students, and all martial arts lineages
  • Integrity — accurate representation of credentials, lineage, and training
  • Humility — service before recognition, learning before teaching
  • Non-violence — martial arts skill is for self-cultivation, not aggression
  • Authenticity — uphold genuine lineage transmission; do not fabricate or misrepresent

3. Member Rights · 会员权益

Active members in good standing receive:

  • Official USWMA member status and badge
  • Eligibility to host sanctioned tournaments under USWMA standards
  • Eligibility to send athletes to the New York International Wushu Championship (NYIWC)
  • Eligibility to serve as judge, instructor, or panelist at USWMA events
  • Voting rights on association direction (per category and tenure)
  • Cross-lineage exchange opportunities with member schools and sister federations
  • Co-branding access on cultural events including the Times Square Spring Festival

4. Member Obligations · 会员义务

  • Accurately represent your school, lineage, credentials, and student standing
  • Comply with Wushu De principles in all USWMA-affiliated activities
  • Maintain insurance and safety standards appropriate to your jurisdiction and student population
  • Refrain from public conduct that brings USWMA or member organizations into disrepute
  • Pay applicable membership dues (if any) within published deadlines
  • Respond to USWMA communications regarding your membership in a timely manner

5. Application Review · 申请审核

Membership applications are reviewed by the USWMA Membership Committee. USWMA reserves the right to approve, deny, or request additional information for any application. Decisions are typically issued within 14 business days. Applicants may be asked to provide additional credentials, references, or video demonstrations during review.

6. Termination · 会员资格终止

USWMA may suspend or terminate membership for violations of this Agreement, including but not limited to: misrepresentation of credentials, breach of Wushu De principles, conduct harmful to students or the public, or repeated failure to meet member obligations. Members may also voluntarily withdraw at any time by written notice to USWMA.

7. Privacy · 隐私保护

Information provided in your application is used solely for membership review, member directory, and USWMA communications. USWMA does not sell or share member contact information with third parties without consent, except as required by law or for USWMA-sanctioned events you opt into.

8. Amendments · 协议修订

USWMA may amend this Agreement from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to active members at the email address on file at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued participation after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
