How USWMA Began
The US Wushu Masters Association (USWMA) was founded in 2017 in Flushing, New York by Master ChaoHai Lan — a 34th-generation Shaolin Temple disciple (法名超深) — together with Co-Founder Joy Qiu (裘玉娇). The vision was simple but ambitious: give Chinese martial arts in America one credible, professional voice.
From a small circle of founding masters, USWMA has grown into a national coalition spanning eight major Chinese martial arts lineages, dozens of member schools, and three communities we serve: the masters who carry each tradition forward, the students and families training in member schools, and the broader American public discovering the depth of Chinese martial arts.
In 2026 we mark our 10th anniversary — a decade of uniting lineages, championing athletes, and building bridges between Chinese tradition and American practice. 2026 是美国武术家协会成立十周年。
